Matthew’s route into physiotherapy is rooted in a lifelong passion for sport and performance. Having competed as a rugby player at performance level, a serious injury gave him a first-hand understanding of what it means to navigate recovery, rebuild strength, and return to the things you love – an experience that now shapes the care he brings to every patient.

His academic background spans both sides of the performance and clinical divide. A degree in Sports and Exercise Science laid the foundation, before he went on to complete a Master’s in Physiotherapy, giving him a depth of knowledge that bridges athletic performance with musculoskeletal health.

Matthew has worked at international level across a range of sports, including Scottish Hockey, Cricket Scotland, and Scottish Lacrosse, supporting athletes from junior through to senior competition. He has also worked pitchside with Aberdeen Football Club, bringing real-world experience of sport at a high level. That breadth of exposure across disciplines has made him a highly capable and adaptable clinician. One of Matthew’s particular strengths lies in performance profiling and testing. He takes a thorough, analytical approach to understanding how each person moves, where their vulnerabilities lie, and what they are genuinely capable of – cutting through guesswork to give patients a clear picture of where they are and what it will take to get where they want to be. As a Strength & Conditioning coach, he also offers Physio-led Strength & Conditioning Sessions. He is also qualified in sports massage and as a wrestling coach adding further range to his clinical skill set.

Patients consistently find Matthew easy to talk to, and his naturally warm and chatty manner means most people feel at ease from the moment they walk through the door. Outside the clinic, he can usually be found following football, exploring the outdoors with his partner and their dog, or simply enjoying good company.
