Children’s Physiotherapy
Growing bodies have different needs, and treating them well takes more than general physiotherapy experience. At Prime Sports Physiotherapy, we offer something genuinely rare in Edinburgh and the Lothians: a clinic that combines deep specialist expertise in paediatric physiotherapy with elite-level sports physiotherapy under one roof. For young people who are active, sporty, or competing at any level, that combination makes a real difference.
Our founder has over 30 years of experience working with children and young people, including covering Six Nations and international rugby fixtures, working across multisport environments, and supporting children within and referred from NHS children’s services. Looking after young people is not something we have added to our offering. It is, and always has been, a core part of who we are.
We are proud to provide in-house physiotherapy services for George Watson’s College and work with clubs and schools across Edinburgh and the Lothians. From elite youth athletes to children managing growth-related conditions or recovering from surgery, our team has the expertise to assess and treat young people with the care, patience, and clinical depth their needs demand.
What conditions do we treat?
What does an appointment involve?
Sessions begin with a friendly and thorough assessment where we take the time to listen carefully to both the child and their parent or carer. We take the time to get to know every child as an individual, their interests, their sport, and what makes them tick. We love hearing about their life outside the clinic, whether that is pet photos or the latest school drama, because building a genuine connection with our young patients is what makes treatment feel safe, fun, and effective. Treatment may include hands-on therapy, age-appropriate rehabilitation exercises, load management, and guidance on activity modifications to support safe progress.
We also recognise that injury affects more than the body. We take time to consider the impact on a young person’s wellbeing and confidence, and where appropriate we provide advice on nutrition, performance optimisation, and how to develop the resilience, robustness, and leadership qualities that serve young athletes throughout their careers. We understand the pressures young people face balancing school, training, and competition, and we work with parents, coaches, and schools to ensure every child feels supported both in and out of the clinic.
How will it benefit your child?
Early, expert intervention makes a meaningful difference for young people. Addressing problems at the right stage of development reduces the risk of long-term complications, supports healthy movement patterns, and gives young athletes the foundations they need to perform and stay injury-free. Whether your child is recovering from injury, managing a growth-related condition, or experiencing pain that is affecting their sport or schooling, we provide the specialist care they deserve.
Who is it for?
Our children’s and youth physiotherapy service is suitable for children aged 5 and upwards, from those just starting out in sport to elite youth athletes competing at regional and national level. You do not need a referral to book.
