George Watson's College Pupils

Expert Paediatric Physiotherapy, Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Care at George Watson's College, Edinburgh.

Prime Sports Physiotherapy provides trusted, evidence-based physiotherapy in George Watson’s College, Edinburgh, supporting pupils to recover from pain, injury, and surgery. Our clinic is conveniently located in the medical room of the Grandstand at the main Myreside rugby pitch on site at GWC, and is open to pupils by pre-booked appointment on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons during term time.

We help pupils manage back and joint pain, sports injuries, growth-related conditions, post-operative recovery, and long-term movement issues. Whether you are an active young person, a youth athlete, or a pupil looking to move more comfortably day to day, our experienced physiotherapists deliver personalised care you can rely on.

We work with all major insurers, so if you are covered for physiotherapy, we will do our best to make the process as straightforward as possible.

Our George Watson’s College clinic offers specialist paediatric physiotherapy, sports physiotherapy for youth athletes, sports injury diagnosis and management, rehabilitation and return to play planning, strapping and injury prevention, and pre and post-operative orthopaedic rehabilitation.

Prime Sports Physiotherapy is known for combining clinical expertise with health science and kindness. Our team has extensive experience working with children and young people, and we understand the challenges that pupils and parents face when aches and pain get in the way of school, sport, and family life. Being integrated within the school means less time away from class for pupils and less disruption for parents.

You will receive a thorough assessment, a clear explanation of your condition, and honest guidance at every stage of your recovery. Your treatment plan is built around your goals, not just your diagnosis, and we will be with you every step of the way.

We regularly support GWC pupils with aches and pains related to growth, sports injuries, sprains, strains, fractures, and breaks, rehabilitation needs before and after orthopaedic surgery, and a safe return to their school curriculum and sport.

Our George Watson’s College clinic treats pupils across a wide range of needs, from aches and pains related to growth, sports injuries, sprains, strains, fractures and breaks, through to rehabilitation before and after orthopaedic surgery. We liaise closely with pupils, families, coaches and the school medical team as required to ensure a safe, well-managed return to both the school curriculum and sport.

As specialist youth sports physios, we support pupils in the Talented Athlete programme across multiple sports to manage the demands of training and injuries that occur when pushing the boundaries of performance. We also provide pitchside cover for the 1st XV and U16 rugby teams, covering everything from injury prevention to a safe return to play.

Your first appointment includes a detailed assessment and a clear explanation of your condition. From there, we work with you to plan your rehabilitation journey, making sure you understand what we are doing and why at every stage. Treatment is personalised and may include hands-on therapy, rehabilitation exercises, strapping, and practical advice to support recovery and prevent recurrence.

Great experience with Alan, he listened really carefully to my son’s symptoms and devised an exercise plan that my son has been motivated to complete. Thank you - would come back again in future.

I had a great experience at this physiotherapy clinic. The staff were friendly, professional, and made me feel comfortable from my very first visit. My physiotherapist took the time to understand my condition, explained everything clearly, and created a treatment plan that really helped. I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my pain and mobility, and I appreciate the care and support I received throughout my treatment. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone looking for high-quality physiotherapy services.

I recently set up an appointment with Alan due to a very sore back. He assessed the problem, did some massage and gave me some exercises to do afterwards. The effect was dramatic and my pain all but disappeared. Alan also gave me some stretching routines to help me with my golf which have worked wonders. This is the third time I’ve used Prime for different issues and every time they’ve done a fantastic job. If you play golf and have a sore back go and see them!!

I had excellent treatment from Barrie for shoulder and neck pain. Barrie took time to assess my condition and explain treatment. Exercises and hands on treatment provided steady improvement reducing pain and improving sleep. I would thoroughly recommend Barrie.

Can’t recommend Isla Cormie and Prime Sports Physio enough. I have been attending the clinic for regular massages to help with shoulder and back pain. Isla took the time to understand where I was holding tension and what I hoped to achieve from massage, then adapting each session to suit my needs. I’ve noticed a real improvement with less back pain and shoulder tension. And generally feel much more relaxed and looser in my ‘problem’ areas.
